We are very proud of the choral foundation we have at St Thomas’ church. The choir currently consists of sixteen members and sings regularly at our 10.30am and 6.30pm services as well as at additional services over Christmas and Easter and other times during the year.
In addition to this, in recent years we have sung services at Norwich Cathedral during their choir's absence and in many churches in Norfolk and the Lake District.
We rehearse on a Friday evening at 7.45pm, normally followed by a visit to a local pub for refreshment.
The choir has an annual camp during the August Bank Holiday. This has taken us to North Walsham, Oulton, the Lake District, Jordan Green (near Reepham) and more latterly to Little Barningham. We always sing services in the local churches near to where we camp. We have had much pleasure in recent years singing around all the churches of the Itteringham Benefice and enjoy meeting up and singing, eating and other social activities in their many churches.
We have also sung services in Bawdeswell, Salle and Foulsham to name but a few.
The emphasis is on having fun. We work hard and play hard, and remember that we are singing to enhance the worship to the glory of God.
In October 2008 we were able to take on our first Choral Scholar and we have the opportunity to further this.
Back in 2005 we were also able to offer our very first Organ Scholarship, which has proved to be most successful.
If you are interested in singing and would like to consider joining us then please contact the Director of Music, Mathew R Martin via email.
Do tell us a little bit about yourself! We have vacancies for Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass singers.
During Advent 2009 we performed a world premiere of an anthem being composed for us by David Berwick, the second opportunity we have had to give the first performance of one of his works.
Do please get in touch – it would be great to see and meet you!

From time to time we are able to offer Organ and Choral Scholarships.
These are intended to provide an opportunity for young singers and organists to develop their skills and to take an active part in the music of our church.

For further details or if you would like to arrange an audition if a vacancy exists please contact Mathew R Martin, Director of Music, via email.
Our music group meets in the church every 2nd, 3rd and 4th Sunday after the family communion service (usually about 12 o'clock).

We practise hymns and songs ready for the following month's family service (1st Sunday of the month).
We welcome musicians of all abilities and ages; giving everyone the chance to play as a group and to lead the worship once a month.
We currently have a pianist, two flautists, a violinist, a clarinettist, a banjo player and an accordion player. Usually children in the congregation accompany us with percussion instruments too.

We would love more people to join us, whatever instrument you play and however lacking in confidence you may be – we are very friendly and encouraging!
Please contact Mathew Martin (01263 731075 / 07771620610) or turn up on Sunday – we will be gathered round the piano at coffee time.
