You are on the St. Thomas' Church Children's Activities page
All children are welcome at St Thomas'.

We hold special activities for children of all ages every week and a Family Service is held on the first Sunday of every month.
This service is less formal and usually seeks the hands on participation of not only the children of the congregation but parents too.
The children have the opportunity to play percussion instruments to accompany their singing, encouraging them to express the joy music brings to everyone's lives.
Sometimes work they have prepared previously is used during the service and displayed later in the children's corner. This makes St. Thomas' a living church open to all. The children do as much themselves as they are able, including serving and welcoming the congregation at the Family Service.
When the uniformed groups join us for parade services at special festivals throughout the year, the children of St. Thomas' join in with their own dedicated flag.
The children's corner is a much loved area for our regular members. It is a comfortable, informal area to retreat to with very young children whilst the service is taking place and enables you to still feel part of the Church Service.
Colouring sheets and toys are available and a bookcase filled with a selection of books that we hope children will find relevant and stimulating.
We also have a varied range of children's bibles which can provide you with a good alternative to the adult versions. They make children's questions easier for you to answer and help them to find answers for themselves.
To stimulate the older children, a separate lesson is prepared for anyone 9+. This group meets on the 3rd week of the month. You don't have to be nine years old to join in but the age acts as a guide to children and parents that the topics covered may be more challenging. These are good sessions as the children can begin to explore faith and learn how to implement the gifts they have to offer.
All our leaders have received training and have Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) checks. At St Thomas' the welfare of children is taken very seriously we therefore have a Named Person, Suzanne Broom (01603 614608), who is responsible for the implementation of the Child Protection Policy for the church.

The most exciting event taking place for the children has been the reopening of the Church Hall. This has meant we can start to expand the church once again to a wider audience. Now the Hall is back in use, the Youth Group has started again.

Right: Juliana of Norwich's cat. Can you can find it in one of our stained glass windows?
